A bit of background first;

My remapped (since 09 I think) vRS suffers from clutch slip. Because of this I'm looking to get a replacement fitted soon (I haven't decided which clutch to get, so am open to suggestions with that too!).

I had a refurbished off-side caliper fitted to pass my MOT because the handbrake was only gripping on the near side.

 

The problem;

Since getting the caliper replaced I have been getting three warning beeps, normally under acceleration when the revs are most torque-y, and the warning light on the dash that normally shows when the handbrake is engaged, (!) , lights up briefly.

 

Has anyone had experience of this? Any ideas what could be the issue?

Check your brake fluid level in the reservoir. The handbrake warning symbol is also used to warn of low fluid level. It sounds like as you accelerate hard the fluid is sloshing back in the reservoir and causing the sensor to read a low level.

You might have had it done by the Scottish cousins of the same idiots who did our Polo's calipers. They didn't replace the crush washers so they leaked and we had the same thing.

 

Check the fluid level and for leaks around the calipers.

That would certainly tie in with the 'fault' characteristics. I will take a look tonight.
