fabia mk1 1.4 engine swap

Featured Replies

I am new to this forum and wondering if anybody has every engine swapped a 1.4 8v for a 1.4 16v. if anybody has i would like to know what you have to change like gear box drive shafts ect. i only want to do it as my head gasket has gone if its more work than its worth i was planning on doing a 1.8t in a year or so and how much work would that be as i know you would have to change the loom and everything

Never changed the engine but the 8v head gaskets are fairly easy.

If you want the donor parts, I have the entire front end of a Fabia 1.4 16v available.  Can have all wiring, ECU, engine, box, shafts, downpipe, and whatever else.

Shame you're so far up north though

Devonutopia what's the state of the 1.4 engine you got? Had the piston rings go on mine so was reckoning just chuck a new block in there, what's the miles, engine code etc

The engine is fine, but I would recommend replacing coils and HT leads as there was a cylinder 4 misfire on VCDS but car still able to drive fine.  Can likely take those off your old engine and then have three spare. :)

Mileage is 120k (I have full Skoda dealer / Indy service history) 2 lady owners (Mum then daughter) from new.  I don't know engine code but its the original 1.4 16v 100hp engine.  Looking at the label in the front of the service schedule, I think its "AUB" engine and he gearbox is "ELE"

I am open to offers, especially if you can remove.   I can borrow an engine crane locally too.

Sounds great man, has the timing belt and water pump been done as it's around that sort of mileage it's recommended?

I'll have to go check my engine code as can't remember it lol

Where are you based?

I've got access to a crane so can just come remove it too to ease the process

Cheers

In Exmouth Devon.

Whilst I have service history I am not sure when belt done.

Might be worth doing as a precaution if lump coming out. :)
