Hello to all

 

Newbie here, proud owner of an apparently out of model year 2005 Octavia 1 Estate. Complete accident that it's a vRS, in case my wife asks. Honest.

 

Anyway, she wanted a car in a colour other than silver or black, I wanted something a bit "fun" and we need an estate because we have two children. It was this or a Mondeo, which is bigger, cheaper, higher-spec but boring. I won. But I haven't mentioned it's 180bhp yet.

 

It seems to be one of the last Mk1s as every time I enter the reg number on parts websites it defaults to a 2.0 Mk2, so I've taken to just calling it a 2003 for convenience.

 

I bought it Saturday, collected it Sunday (after raiding every cashpoint in MK) and have just got back from a business trip to Nottingham. 170 miles round trip - didn't miss a beat, which is nice. Only issue is wobbly front discs and an apparent lack of handbrake on one rear wheel, can't decide which at the moment and as it's raining it'll have to wait.

 

Off to Brands Hatch in it at the weekend (camping!).

 

The signs are good so far, but the Mrs hasn't driven it yet because I haven't let her...

The last few Mk1 VRSs were still finding homes in 2005. There are some taxi spec cars floating around that are as late as 2008 I believe.
