Speed Warning ---mph

Featured Replies

Hi all

The display on my Fabia Elegance is saying "Speed Warning ---mph"

I don't know why it has appeared. I tried clicking the two buttons on the dash under the screen, but they only set the time.

Anyone have any ideas?

Got a manual?

Winter tyre been checked in the menu??

Welcome to the Forum.

Does your car have Maxidot, and a Rocker Switch on the end of the Washer Stalk?.

You can Set a MPH Warning for Speed Limits  @ Different Speeds

& Also another for Winter Tyre speed warnings,  or Unset them.

Hi, thanks for responses. I think it's such a stupid question that it's not been asked before (at least on this forum or google).

I think I must've clipped the buttons at the end of the windscreen wiper stick which changed the display (had the car 1.5 years and didn't know this)

& Also another for Winter Tyre speed warnings, or Unset them.

The standard non maxidot system also does this. :).

page 17 / 18 in manual

button A is the one on the end of the wiper stalk

button B is the one underneath of the wiper stalk

With button A » Fig. 6, choose the menu point Warning against excessive

speeds

Press the button B to activate the ability to set the speed limit (value flashes).

Use the button A to set the required speed limit, e.g. 50 km/h.

Confirm the speed limit that was set with button B , or wait approx. 5 seconds

until the setting is saved automatically (the value stops flashing).

This allows you to set the speed in 5 km/h intervals.

Adjust the speed limit while the vehicle is moving

With button A » Fig. 6, choose the menu point Warning against excessive

speeds

Drive at the desired speed, e.g. 50 km/h.

Press button B to accept the current speed as the speed limit (the value flashes).

If you wish to change the set speed limit, it is changed in 5 km/h intervals (e.g. the

accepted speed of 47 km/h increases to 50 km/h or decreases to 45 km/h).

Confirm the speed limit that was set by pressing button B again, or wait approx.

5 seconds until the setting is saved automatically (the value stops flashing).

Change or delete speed limit

With button A » Fig. 6, choose the menu point Warning against excessive

speeds

Pressing the button B deletes the speed limit.

By pressing the button B activates the ability to change the speed limit.

If the set speed limit is exceeded, an acoustic signal will sound as a warning. At

the same time the message

Warning against excessive speeds appears on the

display with the set limit value.

The set speed limit value remains stored even after switching off the ignition.

Its quite a good feature but would be better if like one on the smart which stops you going above the set speed even backs off throttle or downchanges to keep you below the set speed e.g. 50 mph unless you press down to kick down function.

Iv tried using it in a 30mph area with lots of speed cameras before.

It didnt help at all. It didnt stop me slipping up to 35-40mph (its a main road going into stoke, completely safe to do so) between the cameras. I always know when im speeding, so a poxy bing doesnt stop me adding a cheeky 5 or 1mph haha.

Yeah the Fabia one just beeps at you which is ok but as I say the Smart one doesn't let you go above the set speed unless you floor the throttle.

Oh i see what you mean.

Tbf. I think cruise control would be just as good

I like this feature. I have it set strictly to 70 80 90mph. It's useful for me because on the only chances i'd get to do such speeds (it has actually gone back to 80 now I think of it), i'd be using the sat nav. And it bugs me not being able to see the directions until i'm below the limit.

Useful. Trying top slow myself down day by day  :giggle:  spurred on trying to get the highest economy possible in my own little game.

It doesnt reset itself when the engine is turned off n on again then?
