Advice for when I pick up my new Octavia

Featured Replies

Got a phone call from the garage today saying my Octavia has arrived, picking it up 1st Sept, only 7 more sleeps left. Can't wait :D

Anyhow, back to my question. What sort of things if anything should I be looking for when I pick the car up, apart from the obvious like have they fitted the accessories I have asked for. By this I mean are there any dents, or visible scratches. Hope fully nothing will be wrong as it's brand new, but you never can be too sure. Would hate to get it home and find something wrong with it and not have a leg to stand on.

Is yours a special edition without a warrenty then?

Just check the whole car over, dealer should show you operation of items anyway.... but make sure all ur bits and bobs are working.

If you have a camera phone its handy as if you find anything u can get a quick snap etc.

Just check it over VERY carefully, dont forget to look underneath as well.

When my car was supplied brand new by Saltdean Skoda it had a dent on the sill that I did not notice for a couple of days, when I went back to show them they denied it was there at handover!! I hadn't used the car at all in between and it only had 11 miles on the clock, after further investigation by an independant engineer the damage was found to have been caused by a mechanic incorrectly jacking up the car and crushing the outer sill panel on the ramps arm while the wheels were being changed to the optional 17" ones! I know damn well the car had never been jacked up while in my possesion and Skoda still refused to accept liability despite irrefutable evidence (the paint from the ramp was still on the sill panel!!)

A big :finger: to Saltdean

Mine had almost zero fuel in it. When I pulled in on the way home I found I didn't know how to open the filler flap [old vRS had a dashboard button to press]. Sat there reading the manual and found you just press in the left edge of the flap to open it!! Silly me - I should have known -OR been shown.
