Uk car show

Featured Replies

Hi

Is there many good large motor shows in the uk? I went to the one at the nec years ago but it doesn't look like they have it now. Just a performance car show and a classic one. Goodwood looks good but I am on holiday when it is on. I'm not after anything specialist just all the car manufacturers with normal cars on show.

As far as im aware ones with just car manufactures exhibiting new cars only happens once or twice a year, obviously Geneva Motor Show stuff like that.

Theres heeps of VW shows and other specific make shows

I just thought that the uk used to have one too like the old nec or earls court one.

Autosport international in january at the NEC is good!

There used to be the London/Birmingham motor show. This was abandoned as most manufacturers launched their latest models at Geneva, Paris, Frankfurt (?) and the other ones. I think the last London one was possibly when Vauxhall announced the Insignia and the new badge and it was held at Excel.

I remember going and it being pretty poor. None of the big manufacturers really made an effort unlike when I went to Geneva..that was a show!!

Used to be one every year and I always went with my Dad in the Earls Court days.   The last Motor shows were held at the NEC up to the credit crunch and they died a death as no one had any money, even the car makers said it wasn't worth the costs of a display.

I used to REALLY look forward to the International Motor Show at Earls Court every autumn when I was a nipper.

Used to go with my Dad every year to ogle at the latest exciting offerings from BMC, Hillman, Scimitar, Bond, etc etc.

Those were the days, sigh.

NSRA Billing Fun Run, On at Billing Aquadrome this weekend, rather a good laugh, good atmosphere and lots of Yanks and Rods there, quite nice to camp over and be woken up by the sounds of V8's

Should be a good show. And Free!

Again Fitted UK should be an awesome show.

Goodwood moving motor show is definitely the closest you'll get to the NEC/Excel type shows with all the manufacturers.
I've noticed quite a few local city centre motor shows starting up as well - it's only local dealers exhibiting, but better than nothing.

Thanks for the replies. Just what I thought with the big ones. I'll have to look into going to Goodwood next year. I'll keep an eye out for anything local but all I have found so far I classic cars not that I am against classics but I know I would leave looking for a small convertible and a old range rover v8 engine!

Don't forget the Briskoda National meet at Blyton Park later in the year.

Thanks.

I didn't know about this and it's only 45mins away. It's in my diary now.
