Fan Coming On!

Featured Replies

Hi all over the past couple of days I have noticed the radiator fan coming on even though the temp gauge is normal! Is there anything to look for?

Incidentally it does go off when I switch the engine off.  It's just that it does not normally come on.

Cooling fans are designed and operate to keep the coolant temperature normal after the coolant is at an efficient operating temperature, and the coolant cools the oil, which is also a coolant.,

when the cooling effect is reduced because the car is travelling slower.

Is this possibly what is happening, everything working as it should?

What was the Ambient Temps, or the type of driving being done?

Journey's were quite short, humid conditions.

Had similar recently, the thermostat had failed shut. Check how quickly the engine temp heats up from cold when driving, if you reach 90 within a mile be suspicious and check if the coolant hoses to and from the radiator are hot.

Are you using the air-con?
