How many miles to a tank full vrs only please using 99 octian

Featured Replies

I've started to use the 99 stuff for the a few weeks now and just wondered what everybody else was getting to a tank full.

I put nearly £58 (£60 - 2p+ off) of 99 and got about 320 miles but was just above the red quarter

Fill it up again and see how much it takes, thats the only way to know how much it used.

If you just fil it till it seems full,

then 'Venting it' puts about another £10's worth in at current priced.

So it might be Full, or very full.

320 miles for 9 gallons (41 liters) is 35.5 mpg from the 9 gallons.

320 from 10 gallons is 32 mpg.

You can get from 320 to 420 miles or more from 10 gallons, depends how you use it.

You can just as easy get 250 miles.

Most I have ever got from a non-vented full tank is 429 miles. I use V-Power almost exclusively and my average mpg over 27k miles is 41.93 which is very impressive for a highly strung 180bhp motor.

wow that is very good. I will have to brim it again and see how much I get this time. I think getting 40mpg is good out of one of theses motors.

I got from Southampton to Falmouth and back on one tank vented. Got about another £10 like George suggests above. Running on Momentum 99

226 miles each way.

How does "venting" work and what does it do??

I get between 420-440 miles on a full tank and I run tesco 99 ron always!

Venting gets as much fuel in if you are on a trip. Do not do it unless away to do about 60 miles. Parking up there is no room for expansion of the fumes.

So brim the tank. Then look at the little black slide in the filler pipe. Let the air out. 3 times maybe. You get 1.5 gallon extra in.

got my first 400 miles in last month.... non vented,  winter I averaged <320

I usually get around 380 miles per tank full of momentum. Lots of short trips for me so I'm pleased with my average of about 40mpg or just under.

I must admit most of these are business miles and I drive with a very light foot when I'm on work time! Although even one evening hooning in North Wales and Evo triangle roads after work hours was still about 32mpg.

Only use Tesco 99. 68 quid full to the brim, The last 3 fill ups, I've managed about 360/365 per full tank. Mixture of driving really.

I did 70 miles yesterday, steady driving and managed 47mpg (maxi accurate?) that was urban and some motorway. Can't complain with that :-)

I  bought my VRS from new at the beginning of December 2013 - I have recorded every fill up since new (yes sad!) and have now covered about 5.500 miles. I will let you know the MPG shortly (when I get a chance to tot up all the receipts).

I've done 141 miles on a tank full of momentum 99 (44.5 liters) on more sensible days I've managed 350ish miles, I don't often get to do long trips and I'm bit heavy on the loud pedal, must remember to lift and coast more :giggle:

141 miles to a full tank. Jesus, I bet you had fun in those 141 miles haha

Yup! A few 20 mile trips in the early hours saw 13mpg on the trip average... Funnly enough in 3300 miles from new its hardly used any oil.... Winner!

The thing is, did it use 1 gallon of petrol for 13 miles?

The Average reading is not what it is actually drinking.

Sit the car running parked and after a while it will show 11 mpg, then 9 mpg,

and yet it is doing no miles. ie 0 mpg, but drinking petrol.

Getting 22 mpg down to 19 mpg driving really spirited is fun,  getting it drinking a gallon every 13 miles must be mental.

That's V8 territory !

I don't ever leave it sat there ticking over using fuel, that's just a waste of fun juice, I get in, start and go, give it a couple of brisk miles in manual, short shifting between 4000/5000 rpm and no full throttle so oil temp comes up nicely then on quiet country roads have some sport, normally changing at 6000/6500rpm, lastly pop it in 'D' mode for the last mile or two driving steady to bring oil temp down below 100 before switching off.

It's used next to no oil in 3300 miles but I was respectful with it for the first 1000 miles but didn't pamper to it.

On the other end of the scale I've seen 44.9mpg on a steady 'A' road run and 37/38mpg on longer motorway journeys maintaining good speeds with 3 work colleges on board and the average weight of the four of us would be around 85kg each.

All depends on how you drive, assuming all is working as it should be there is no reason that it shouldn't return good economy once up to full working temperature.
