Opinions on used vRS

Featured Replies

Hello there guys, just registered, and i'm after an opinion on a used octavia vRS i've spotted, and i guess you're the people to ask.

There's an octavia vrs in a local dealer which i've had my eye on, its a Y reg, 54k, metallic silver, FSSH, although it doesnt have the extras such as cruise control, parking sensors, alarm (has immobiliser though) etc, but it appears to be in good nick, interior is spotless etc, and its up for

Cruise can be added for about

yes im not exactly concerned about not having the equipment, as i dont have it at present, im just interested as to whether its been discounted enough to warrant the price tag.

Dont forget the Insurance Group is 16 !! Your Fiesta was 8

i'm well aware of the insurance groups mate, i wouldnt be asking opinions on it otherwise ;)

Sounds like a good price, and I wouldn't go on book as the vRS doesn't seem to be holding its value too well and I know a few people on here had trouble shifting their cars for good prices.

Just go along with eyes open and make sure it's been properly serviced, check to see if the coil packs have been done, no uneven tyre wear, no accident damage, all the usual. Also be aware that it's recommended on here that the cambelt is done at 60k mile (120k miles in the service book!) so be prepared for a biggish bill when that needs doing. As long as you do your research and know the problems with the cars to look for, then you should be able to bag a good'un :D

brilliant, thats the advice i wanted.

what on average is the price for the cambelt, and why does it require replacing so early?

Sounds like a decent price to me - particularly if its from a dealer and you are getting some form of warranty.

Re: the cambelt, cost depends on dealer but aim at about

its not a skoda dealership, but a random garage local to me, a few friends have purchased cars from there in the past without any hassle, but i'll have a look on the skoda site now for any that are floating about

Go for it, the price for a dealer doesnt sound bad. Extras were not available on Y reg vRS's at all, thats why it has none, I had cruise fitted later and it was all done using official parts.

Hmmm, I'm getting de ja vous with a thread on talkaudio.... ;):D

There's a few people on here who have filled them with ICE very nicely indeed.
