Soon to be Yetiless :-(

Featured Replies

Been waiting for ages for the V5 to arrive. Dealer had been trying to sort it with DVLA but they wouldn't talk to them as they weren't registered keeper.

DVLA did speak to me today though to advise that they had no record of the change if keeper being requested.

Luckily there was some tax on it when I bought it, but that runs out on Saturday.

As I didn't get the new keeper slip, I can't tax it with that either. Skoda were the previous owner, so doubt they've hung on to the renewal letter.

Looks like I've got to apply for a replacement v5 (6 weeks) and tax it when that arrives.

Where's my bicycle?

I'd expect the dealer to provide you with a loan car till you can get it taxed.

Doesnt sound unreasonable, unless of course it turns out to be the DVLA that have lost it, and not the dealer that hasnt sent it.

Dealer is trying to get Skoda uk (still the registered keeper) to tax it on my behalf.

Should know if that's worked tomorrow

Agreed - if it is Skodas' cockup, then they should do what it takes to prevent you being inconvenienced ie loaner.

It would appear that the dealer didn't get the V5 from Skoda when they got the car.

Which is why I've not got the new owner slip.

Hmmm.

So they sold you the car, knowing that they couldn't transfer it to your ownership?

Yep, definitely their **** up and they should get it taxed or loan you a car.

I thought it was illegal to sell a car with out the v5 ??

Illegal to sell a car you don't own without the owners permission, but not illegal to sell without the V5, no.

Ill advised to buy without the V5, definitely.

Tax ran out at midnight.

No loaner has appeared on my drive.

I'll be on the bus tomorrow then :-(

Drive it back to dealer, and quote Sale of Goods Act..clearly not fit for purpose as you can't drive it. You are legally entitled to refund

The car is 'In trade', or should have been,  the Dealer can get the VED for it, or there is capers going on here.

Ask the Questions about Skodas Ownership because the Law Requires them to tell you,

Was it a Lease or Hire car and who was the keepers while Skoda Owned it?

'Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading (CPUTR) 2008

It is illegal to withhold any details that could effect a purchase

decision about a car at point of sale.'

You are past the point of sale, but the Dealer is taking the Pith. IMO

I would drive it to the dealers, put it in the most inconvenient place possible and ask them to sort it within the next hour. Or they can stick the sale up their arse.

Easy with them pitchforks...

Whilst I do need answers (and a loan car as a minimum), I do believe that there's been a **** up between dealer and Skoda that they've only now become aware of and they are trying their hardest to sort it out.I don't believe there has been any grand plot to misrepresent or deceive (and I hopefully won't be proved wrong).

As the dealer is 160 miles away, I can't realistically just pop in there and abandon it, even if I wanted to.

Just to confuse matters,in the 8 or 9 weeks that I've had the car, I've built a Alpine DAB radio in, spent a small fortune on upgrading the OEM roof aerial to DAB, fitted under-seat pockets, stuck in a spare wheel, sunglasses holder etc etc... all of which would have to come out again if I were to part with the car.

Of course, if there's no sensible and fast resolution path, I'll be giving serious consideration to unwinding the deal, especially as the near identical Yeti I traded in in still on their forecourt and, frustratingly, still taxed (by me)

Maybe so mate, but you shouldnt be paying the price for their **** up.

Youve bought a car to drive it, if you cant drive it, its no good to you.

Whether its skoda uk, or the dealer thats messed up they should be doing all they can to make sure you arent inconvenienced by it. At the moment, it doesnt seem to me that thats what theyre doing, as you dont even have a lease car, and your getting messed around.

Id consider getting legal advice if they dont book their ideas up, quick time.

I may be grumpy today as I had to get up extra early to get a taxi to the coach to take me to work.

No, must be positive...

Hey, I'm being chauffer driven to work in a Mercedes!

Hey, I'm being chauffer driven to work in a Mercedes!

Hope you kept the receipt to present to SUK for reimbursement.

Hope it all gets sorted soon.

Still not sorted.

Was told that I'd be informed how it would be resolved by 30th May, and despite repeated emails, no contact.

Then an email on 3rd of June to apologize; the boss had been away and someone else was taking charge of resolution. Advised that I'd know how SUK were going to sort it by 4th, or 5th at the absolute latest.

I was offered a loan car, but (as the dealer is 150 miles from me and it seemed daft to do 600 miles round trip to loan me a car for 2 days) said I could hold off until the 5th so I could make a decision on taking the loan car or simply unrolling the deal.

The 5th has now come and gone and I've heard nothing. My lovely Yeti has just celebrated its 1st birthday by sitting on the drive for a week and a bit, with no indication of when it will turn a wheel again.

I'll be going to work on 2 wheels tomorrow and the weather really isn't looking good. I can't see me being in a good mood when (or perhaps if) then contact me.

Apparently the dealer has both v5 and ved.

I think this calls for a beer

Good news mate

Good news mate

I think so.

SUK had indicated that if it wasn't sorted soon they'd consider letting me have an alternative car. The missus was looking at Superb 170 Elegance estates.

Never been a cheap date, that girl.
