driver side dirvers module

Featured Replies

Have been having issues with the drivers door electrics.  Have checked the cable going through the door, have tried a different switch box (buttons for windows/central locking) and now after a few weeks it has stopped working completely, vcds is showing no communication with drivers door module.  i Have tried a another one today (seem to be hard to get) and some of the functions are working but not central locking and door switch, even though it will work on the button on the door.  Can anyone suggest anything as i dont want to fork out £200+ on complete new regulotar and motor.

This sounds like classic water ingress into the connector block.  Have you checked all the pins in the large connector block onto the window motor assembly?

Yea checked, the orginal module now is doing nothing and coming up no communication on vcds.  I got a module form a scrap car today, but it had 4 electric windows, so i plugged it in and windows are working, but central locking not working on the drivers door but the rest work.  Really annoying problem.

What condition is the loom plug in that plugs onto the module? - contact cleaner can sometimes resurrect these if they aren't to bad.

I had this on my Octavia.  It was water ingress, I knew this because when I took the loom connector off the gubbins in the door, there was a good 50ml of water sitting in the connector. In the end I bought a whole door from a car I knew was working so I had all the bits needed to sort it out.  It was a bit like Triggers broom in the end but after much head scratching I gave in and took it to a local auto electrician.  It turned out to be the connector block on the door loom.  It looked absolutely fine and nothing was corroded or discoloured.

However, one of the pins had somehow rotted from the inside and wasn't attached.  The only way they found it was by checking each pin, one by one and eventually figuring out which one was duff.  I put the new loom in and it worked a treat.  I should have done this earlier as it had been plugged in a few times by different places and they all kept saying it was the control unit under the dash. I wasted time and money and if I'd stumped up the cash it would have been a lot easier.

I wish I could find out why only the Octy's seem to suffer this and not the Golf's which essentially use the same kit. It has to be down to it's orientation within the door.

ok thanks for the susggestions. I have got another unit from a working car and its the same so its def soemthing to do with the connection from the door into the car.  I did check the loom cable and seemed to bell out out with each wire but maybe theres something i missed.  The interior circuot in the door seems to be working as the controls operate the window and the lock on just the drivers door, but its not communicating with the rest of the car.  I will get a loom out of the scrap car and hopefully that will sort it.

Everything worked on mine apart from the drivers lock.  We did have one episode when the central locking went mental, locking & unlocking and the interior light was flashing on and off.  That's when I found all the water in the door loom connector.  It had fried the black box it attached to as well and the insides were a nice shade of coppery blue, so it must have been leaking into it for quiet a while.  The water was running down the window mechanism, maybe one or two drops every time it rained but over time they built up into a cup full of water, enough to cause issues.

In order to get out that day we had to time things so that a door was opened in between the locks firing every second or so, not brilliant with the kids in tow and being 50 miles from home.

Hope you get things sorted.
