What are the correct springs for my car

Featured Replies

I have been trying to find the correct part code for oem replacement springs for my car (2006 2.0 TDI 16v (BKD) DSG) with the PR codes G07/L14... I have come across the KYB ones (RH1713) and was wondering if the DSG equipped car needs stronger springs than say the manual equivalent? Anyone know?

Thanks,

Chris

Just phone your local VAG dealer's parts department and give them your registration number, their computer system will have the OE details.

Tried that... Wouldn't give me the part number over the phone (company policy!) and thus the only way to get it is to order it (and then you have to pay up front for the part)...

Just been and looked at one of the front springs and it has what appear to be two pink paint marks followed by two white ones... As VAG cars don't seem to use pink I am assuming that it is in fact violet (although it looks like pink to me!). I also have the suspension codes G07/L14 in my service schedule book / decoded from elsawin. A look on partbase.org says I should have:

6N0411105C coil spring. coil spring; for models with; heavy duty suspension; 1 paint mark; 5 paint marks; green; white; sedan:; PR-G07/L14

What the hell is going on... Has somebody just fitted the wrong springs (doubtful as they look old so are probably the original ones)...

Help :)

What is the suspension code in the boot?

I have a set of spare springs from the same car but manual and I think they are pink pink white white. Will have a look next time I go down if you like.

Hmmm I looked for the codes in the boot the other day and couldn't see a sticker under the floor mat however I have all the codes from a 1 hour session of elsawin... Any idea which ones in particular as there are 186 in the list I printed out!!! :D

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again...

I found several local Skoda dealers also tight lipped and unhelpful however another VW dealer was more than happy to help and got my business.

If Skoda won't help you can always try VW or Audi.

Didn't that list include decodes for all the PR numbers? And a duplicate of the missing sticker on the boot floor is also inside the front cover of your car's Service Schedule booklet.

Yes I listed what I thought were the two relevant entries above... G07 & L14, which are listed online in various places but the paint codes on my springs do not match what partsbase says are the springs for G07/L14 (See post #4).

In my extended listing from ELSAWIN I also have 0YD (GKH?) Weight range 4 installation control only (Something to do with towing weights maybe?), Also G07 L DFV - Front shock absorption and L14 L GKV - Suspension range 14 installation control only.

I did do a search before creating this thread and somebody else has previously asked the same question but nobody answered.

Ideally if somebody out there has a 2.0TDI (BKD) with DSG of a similar vintage and could check their springs to see what paint marks they have, that would at least answer the question of if these are likely to be the original springs or not.

/end ramble!

Just noticed this on partsbase:

1K0411105BD coil spring. coil spring; 2 paint marks; 2 paint marks; violet; white; PR-2UA/L14

This fits the description at least for what I have fitted at present!

I just wondered if anyone had lost the book and got one from a scrap yard.

Not in my case (1 previous owner with FSH as far as I can tell).

OK so it appears my car uses the same springs as the VW EOS! I used the russian online version of ETKA to investigate which returned the 1K0411105BD part (matches my PR codes and has the correct paint marks too). Now to find somewhere that has the equivalent part e.g. Kilen 25062

Thanks for all the suggestions etc gents,

Chris
