Gear stick ** No spring back problem**

Featured Replies

Hi guys i don't know if this is a common problem or if it has been asked? if it has then i do apologise! but the gears stick/shift tower seems to stick and not spring back . however the previous owner has replaced the spring inside and even the linkage cables that connect to the gearbox. i did find a video on youtube which is exactly the same as mine. what would be the cause and what do i need to do to make this right? any help appreciated thanks.

Common fault is the factory grease drying out in the gearstick housing under the leather gearstick gaiter.

Lift up the gaiter, clean as much of the old goo out then spray a quality silicone grease all around the gearstick ball and housing.

The reason it dries out is because of the heat from the exhaust, the grease gets hot and over time runs off and collects in the bottom of the housing leaving the ball dry and sticky.
