Alignment question for those using coilovers

Featured Replies

Hi guys, in the process of putting ap's on my vrs, but I'm currently stewing over something.....

My worry is that while the rear is both camber and toe adjustable the front isn't. I have already ordered new bolts for the adjustment on the rear as both sides for both adjustments are seized.

I have absolutely no interest in running shed loads of negative camber on the front, I want as much of the tyre to be in contact with the road as possible, and ideally would like to run near standard front alignment.

So on to my question, as a general rule, lowering via shortening strut length increases negative camber, has anyone lowered their vrs on coilovers, and had laser alignment done? How far, if at all, out of spec were the front figures?

I would buy camber adjustable ball joints, but for £100+ I would much prefer the versatility of these eBay number 280858452021

So why not just buy them to be sure, well solid top mounts 'can' create a lot of vibration and if the figures on oe top mounts aren't too bad, I will keep the refinement.

Any input on this will be greatly appreciated guys, the car is up on stands at the minute with its legs chopped off awaiting your answers.

coilovers won't mess up your front camber -it'll stay pretty much stock in my experience (my cars are around 35-45mm lower than stock, so low but not slammed).

if you want adjustability superpro do some adjustable ball joints.  i have these set to -1.2 (i think?) which helps turn-in without being too hard on your tyres.  I've run with -2 and a bit and although the turn-in is great it will wear your inner edges faster.
