which way to go?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, I'm writing from Sydney Australia. I have recently acquired a 2007 Octavia vRS. I don't know much about them, so if you don't mind, I have a question or 2.

This is what I know. It is a 2 litre turbo, 147 kw, 6spd. What I don't know is what you guys mean with all the TSFI etc abreviations, therefore I don't know which one relates to me. It is my daily driver and I want to do a few mods to help with a bit better fuel economy as here in OZ, euro 4 is a bit rich. Just need help understanding what I have so I can do some research and see what mods will suit my needs. Also, might seem like a silly question, but are these intercooled? I can see something in front of the radiator but looks like part of the A/C.

I little bit of extra power would be great too, but I have a big block Mopar in the garage, so I wont need to chase massive power to get my fix.

I must say, these are fantastic little cars.

any help is appreciated.

Hello from the UK :)

I can partly answer some of your questions, is it a petrol or diesel?

Petrol will be TSI/TFSI etc

Diesel will be TDI only.

They are intercooled yes as they have a turbo, if you look closely you actually have 3 radiators. ( A/C - Intercooler - Radiator )

The only thing i would recommend for better fuel and power would be a Stage 1 remap but you would need to ensure you go to a tuner who knows what they are doing.

Hope this helps :)

TSI is "turbocharged stratified injection"

It's a engine with a turbocharger and a supercharger.

Turbo fuel stratified injection (TFSI) is just with a turbo.

Your car will be a TFSI , and the engine code will be BWA. The intercooler is sandwiched between the engine and air con radiators.
