Octavia Facelift?

Featured Replies

Thanks for posting. Good research. Looks credible.

No by the time it's launched the current model will be 2 years old. Manufacturers usually bring out a new / face lift 18 - 24 months after the launch of the previous one

Seems very quick for a facelift maybe test mule for next superb?

Second half of 2015 for a launch date, as per the article. Seems pretty feasible to me.

Gather VAG have reduced vehicle life cycles to approx 4 years with a mid life refresh; probably something that will go across the board...particularly given that the MQB platform makes refreshing and launch of new models quite a cheap activity.

Started with the Mk6 Golf, that was only around for 4 years or so until the Mk7 came along. Also look at the new Polo, thats only been around a few years and has just undergone a complete refresh with MQB electronics thrown in.

Makes sense - when the number of people PCP'ing for 3-4 years keeps going up, they will want a new model at the end of it each time...

Given the production problems, I too find it a tad early, though we don't know the exact release date. Second half of 2015 could very well be end of Q4, then it aligns better.

Golf VI was more of a facelift other than a completely new model. The same with the Passat really. I don't know the figures by heart, but I think the Golf 5 was introduced 2003/2004, with the Golf 6 (facelift) released 2008/2009 = 5 years in between. Then Golf 7 2012/2013 = 4 years in between models.

Btw, isn't Polo scheduled for a completely new model in about 2 years time, sitting completely on the MQB platform?

£5 bet says the suspension gets jacked up about 100mm on the showroom version!

At first I thought it was possibly the 280bhp octavia as I noticed there were sports seats but then I guessed that since the entire cars covered it could be a 2016 facelift.

It does seem rather early for a facelift, especially as the current model has beaten all previous sales records and has a waiting list that many premium cars would envy. Skoda are also known for being very reserved when it comes to frequency and changes they adopt within updates. They tend to arrive only when absolutely needed and contain minor tweaks only.

My wifes just said I should have one of those stickers on the back of my car !!  :D  :giggle:

Dont know about a facelift, all these recently launched models could do with an arselift, removing those stupid folds from the tailgates.

I agree. I've got an O3 and them folds on the boot are the only bit I hate.

I don't think its a facelift O3, more likely to be the new Superb test mule since this is likely to replaced first. Skoda typically work on a 4 year cycle for facelift, take the Superb Mk2 for example. Released in 2008 but did not get a facelift till the back end of last year. Yeti was also around 4 years, as was the Octy MK2.

Octavia mk3 launched 2012 facelift 201?

Well if it is the facelift Octy it looks a bit more curvy, not sure I like it as much as the current one.

Makes sense?? By your logic they'd be changing it out every year

How do you work that out?

PCP runs 3-4 years, models get a major update every 4 years. So you by your MY14 car now, and then in 3-4 years MY18 is a nice new model you trade in for and start a new PCP.

Really not understanding how you got to every year!?
