1.9 TDI Juddering.

Featured Replies

Hi.

I have an 02 reg 1.9 tdi fabia.

First symptoms come on a motorway around 70-80 mph started to judder 5-6 months back.

If I went above or below that speed everything was fine.

Mostly drive on a back roads so didn't experienced any more judder unless I was on a motorway.

Once on a dual carriageway started to do it after a roundabout in almost every gear.

Stopped for about an hour, after that didn't happen.

Bought fuel cleaner and used it straight after, and changed the fuel filter as well.

Since then only experienced above and around 80 mph.

Car set for about 2 months started up and went down to my friend today, when it started to judder in every gear and every rev.

Even if idle it judders a lil bit.

Can be felt and heard with the rev jumping a bit as well.

I searched the forum but could not find an easy fix since it could be quiet a few things so any help is appreciated!

I didn't had a chance to find a garage to read vagcom yet.

Any reliable garage you guys might know in Coventry?

*Please move to the relevant section since I messed up!

Ive had similar to this recently turned out to be an injector, not cheap to replace, funny thing is the guy who did the work says there's another on its way out, will probably last 6 months or so, don't understand why he didn't replace it while he was doing the other one, still get a little judder at about 2k revs, and also have done the same as you changed fuel filter and a load of millers to see how it goes.

Thanks for the heads up!

This morning I went down to Luton and noticed while it's cold there was no judder, started as I was about to reach the motorway.

If I kept it at around 70-80 mph there was no judder unless a steep hill came.

Off the motorway was really bad. Could not do 50 mph in 5th gear it was so bad same with lower gears as well had to rev it.

Managed to scan for any DTC's, anything come up?

Would you mind to tell me a ballpark figure regarding the injector?

Cheers

Mine happened onto the way to a body shop for a bonnet respray, same as you was fine when cold then as soon as it warmed up it started juddering, soon as I turned up at body shop the guy said it didn't sound healthy and put me in touch with a local ex Audi mechanic. Soon as I turned up there he said I had an Injector gone, he replace no 1 injector he had spare of an Audi, plus injector wiring loom cost me £185 all in,

Think he said the injectors are £400 each new from dealer so best looking on eBay, obviously it will need scanning to see which one it is, lots of helpful people on here will help out with codes and stuff.

Great, thanks for the info!

I'll post back as soon as I find the culprit.

It might be worth changing the injector loom first. Have a search around the site for topics regarding injector issues. Whilst it is not bound to be the loom, £20-£50 plus labour is far better than £££s for a new injector.

Thanks for the advice!

I ordered the injector wiring loom on Monday, and yesterday I fitted it.

Took a bit longer than anticipated due to not taking off the EGR valve, but it's doable.

Anyways come to work this morning and seems to be all good now!

Pulls like it should, no judder.

Thanks for the help!
