Temperature guage not going to 90 Degrees..

Featured Replies

I changed my radiator, slam panel, and ac condenser on my octy vrs last night and since then my temperature gauge isn't hitting 90, the car gives hot air, fans come on but it just wont hit 90.. good or bad? what have I done wrong..

Air lock or your stat has stuck open, possibly from going dry while you replaced the rad.

Do you have climate control on? As rad fans will be continously on to cool ac condenser and therefore engine rad

How can I deal with an air lock..? and the car was slightly warm when I removed the rad so could possibly be the stat

no climate control was off at the time

Ok the most effective way I've found to move air locks is. With the engine cold. Remove the headertank cap, put the heater on full hot, start the engine & after a couple of mins start to bring the revs up to about 3000rpm to get the engine up to temp & hold rpm up for a further 5 mins or so, then let the engine idle & check that you have flow from the small headertank return pipe. It helps to have an extra pair of hands available to check the headertank level & give the top & bottom hoses a good squeeze during this process or hold the rpms up while you do it. I usually wedge the pedal if I'm on my own. This method has always worked for me. If your temp doesn't then get to 90c I'd say your stat is goosed.
