Pros and cons of bigger wheels...?

Trust me genuine RS4 alloys had a big problem with bending, hit a pot hole etc and they went oval causing shocking vibrations.

IIRC didnt they say it was a "safety feature" that the wheel would buckle before it damaged the suspension... i also recall something about a track day to demonstrate them.

They bent??? Then they were not pure alloy wheels, because alloys wheels are designed NOT to bend on impact, particularly for tiny kerb hits...steel wheels bend, and if the damage is extensive, they're easy to replace being so cheap...

50p rims???

Be carefull where you buy them from as quality does differ. Having bent 1 18" rs4 alloy on a pot hole and all the rest getting scufffed even if they smelt a kerb I wouldn't bother again. The interesting thing was I ordered a replacement for the bent wheel from the same company and when it came you could tell it was by a different manufacturer as some of the casting on the inside was different

A couple of years ago I spent over

'You get what you pay for' is a true statement dude...getting ripped off is common practice. Also, original chrome rims usually cost much much more than 1000 pounds so that's somethin' to think about :)
