How easy is it to change the auto windscreen wipe function with an old fashioned 4 speed intermediate?

Very easy!

 

You can do it with VCDS. Bascially just tell the car it doens't have auto wipers and they will work as normal.

Something that always annoyed me about the older VAG cars that you had to use auto wipers and didnt get the option of a regular intermittent setting and had to be coded in or out with VCDS.

In the Mk3 you can actually now turn the rain sensor off in the settings to get regular wipers which is really useful.
