MDI into top glove box?

Featured Replies

Hey guys.

Iv just sent payment to Eddie for this:

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/314205-mdi-glovebox-kit/#entry3807252

I plan to run the wires behind the dash (stash the box somewhere too) then just have the plug showing in the righthand side of the top glove box.

Iv searched, but couldnt find anything like this before.

Has anyone done it before? Can anybody see any reason why it cant be done?

Cheers

Did you send him £105 cos he lowered it to £100.

I connected my Samsung up to it and it was useless, couldn't scroll properly or anything. It does however work seamlessly with Apple. I haven't tried a memory card/stick though. I think the results are much better on anything other than Android.

I did. I didnt read back through the thread. Urgh. Nevermind. My own fault i guess...

Hmm. Is it this particular mdi unit you had?

I plan to use either my old 80gb ipod classic, or buy a usb attachment and put all my CDs into that.

I hope it works... Haha.

Cheers

It should work fine with your Ipod seems like that's the preferred medium.

Mine is just the standard MDI on the tech. I might have a little go with a memory stick. I keep meaning to try using a mmc in the slot on the head unit but haven't bothered doing that either. Bluetooth is the way I listen to my tunes.

How do you find the bluetooth?

Id like that, but its abit of a pain to install afterwards isnt it.

I think a mmc will be good. Get everything stored on there, then youll be sorted. Never have to listen to the rubbish radio channels again aha

Bluetooth works perfect for me since I got the new phone. Shows up on the screen and the Maxidot and can skip tracks via the stalk or hu. Can't change albums though.

I'm lucky cos it's all standard on the tech so don't know much about installing a BT module.

My dad uses an mms and loves it, hours of his own music.

I'm gutted I can't get DAB on the Amundsen+

Can i ask...

In the bottom glovebox in my SE theres a bit of plastic on the right hand side that looks like itll pop out.

You guys in a higher spec car.. What goes there? Is it an air vent if youve got a refrigerated glovebox or something?

It's possibly just for access to some wiring or screws or some technical gubbins! My Greenline is basically an SE, but I'll have a look as there are a few differences!! :)

Nice one :).

Just out of interest really. I might see if i can put my mdi plug into that.

I checked in my Monte and if you are talking about an almost hexagonal bit of plastic that looks like you can pop out then I have it in my car too and I reckon if you pop it out you will get the 'in' to the glove box that you want. Also had a poke about behind the dash and found that there is space behind the glove box of you remove the piece of carpet/fabric under the shelf you have (MDI box in my car)

Cheers Jonro.

Iv taken that little bit of plastic out the side of the glovebox and run the cable into that. Iv temporarily just got the mdi box in the glovebox until i sort the vcds coding out.

Once thats all sorted, ill hunt down a better place and just have the mdi plug on show.

I'll have a look at that space behind the glovebox :)

Cheers!
