Car locking itself when you close the passenger's door

Featured Replies

I have read some of the driver's door microswitch related locking problem, but this is different.

It doesn't matter if the engine is running or if the car has been unlocked 10 seconds or 10 minutes. It probably locks 90% of the time when you close the passenger's door. Very occasionally the car will look spontaneously when driving along in the middle of a journey. The interior light still works normally for the passenger's door.

The door has clearly previously had some work done to it as the locking pin sits too high, not sitting flush when the car is locked. I'm not sure if a mis-alignment could be the cause...?

It's all very odd! I'm guessing it is still going to be a microswitch problem...

Any help appreciated!

Probably the connectors at the pillar. Pull the rubber boot back and make sure they are all clicked in properly and check for snapped wires

Right, next stupid question. How do I remove the rubber? Seems firmly attached at both ends and I don't want to force it!

Just pull.

This was mine when I found a broken wire...

I've got a similar problem, but no evidence of broken wires by the door hinges. Although it's very hard to get them back far enough to be certain.
