Hy all,

 

on my fabia 1.9tdi '03 the fuel gauge is stuck low on fuel, also the indicator light for fuel is turned on when i start the car, and my board computer is shownig about 30kilometers left even when I put fuel in the tank.

 

what could be the issue causing these problems?

 

Everything else is working normally, this happend two days ago and I thougt it wolud go away but it did not.

 

any advice?

The problem is probably with the fuel level sender in the fuel tank. It's not likely to throw a fault code since what would you measure as faulty?

 

The most likely failures in a typical sender are a leak in the float, or a failure in the level measuring device (usually a rheostat).

Fuel gauge works on sender in tank sending current from earth via a variable resistor to guage. Simple way of isolating fault. Remove lead from tank sender unit . Gaugeshould read empty. Earth lead and aguge should read full . Does this- sender unit is faulty.
