Help Needed.

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

I'm the owner of a new to me Octavia VRs tdi LE 2009.

Lots of miles (101k) but FSH and in pretty good nick especially on the inside.

I'm looking to have a remap, have previous with Golf tdi's etc. (golf 150 remap with 85k still good 2 years later, wife's car)

What should I look out for regarding mapping, it seems a minefield.

The clutch seems strong and there is no stored fault codes.

Any help and direction (where to go) would be fantastic.

Thanks Mark.

Hi Mark,

Welcome to the forum!

We are forum sponsors and a specialist tuning company based in Chelmsford, Essex.   We offer both remapping services and tuning boxes.

Your Skoda Octavia VRs 2.0 TDI 170 has a Bosch EDC17 Tri-core ECU which in order for it to be remapped, will require you to have the ECU removed.  This is not a problem as it is straight forward for specialist tuners and you will find that only a select number of tuners will carry out this task.  The remap will achieve some impressive results and we would customise your map to meet your specific requirements.  However, this type of remap is slightly more time-consuming, expensive and is not adjustable.  You should also bear in mind that if the vehicle goes back to the main dealer, they may do a software update which would cause your car to go back to standard.  Hence you may have to go through the same process again which will obviously incur additional costs to put your modified file back on.  We charge £389.99 for a Tri-core remap and would be more than happy to help you.

In terms of your mileage, it will not be a problem as long as the vehicle is in good condition and has been serviced and well maintained.

It’s totally personal choice but an alternative could be to consider opting for a tuning box.  Our CRTD2® TWIN Channel tuning box system will achieve great results with your vehicle.  It is traceless and if the system is removed, your vehicle will immediately go back to its standard factory settings.  Therefore, the tuning box leaves no history of its use.

Our tuning box systems can also be installed and removed easily and can be fitted by you in a matter of minutes, so it’s very simple!  Alternatively, we offer a free fitting and ‘try before you buy’ service at our premises in Chelmsford, Essex.

Our systems are also custom programmed based on our customer’s specific requirements.  They can be reprogrammed for any future vehicles at a small cost, saving you money in the future if you change your car.

The cost for our CRTD2® TWIN Channel tuning system is £349.99.  We offer a 10% discount to Bri-Skoda forum members.  Our products are also sold with a 14 day money back guarantee to give you an opportunity to see the results first hand.  Our systems also have a 3 year warranty.

Here are the results from one of our recent dyno days where we put an Audi TT 2.0 TDI 170 (same engine as your Skoda Octavia VRs 2.0 TDI 170) on a dyno to measure the results.

VAG 2.0 TDI 170PS

STANDARD

Power:  168.2 PS (Vehicle should be 170 PS)

Torque: 375 Nm

TDI-TUNING CRTD2® TWIN Channel

Power:  228.3 PS

Torque: 468 Nm

TOTAL INCREASE:

Power: 60.1 PS

Should you have any general tuning questions at all or require any further information on our products and services, then please feel free to contact our technical team on 01245 924 401.  We are always more than happy to help, even if you are just after some general advice as we appreciate it is a minefield out there!

Kind regards,

Steve
