You probably need it scanning. Does the lack of power re-set if you turn iginition off then back on. Currently having problems with 58 plate 1.4 TDI Greenline, whereby we can be running up the motorway and the glowplug light starts flashing and we have no power - it's still happy at speed as no loss of revs, only power. This is being reported as "overboost" when scanned. Can you advise why you are testing the brakelights - is this something you have been advised may be connected?

hi thanks for ur  reply, i think i have 3 faults,  the reason i tested brake lights is,  the seatbelt  warning came on,  checked underseat etc  all ok , blowen  brake  bulbs could cause this,   i undrstand the brake lights are on the same system,  still to check brake switch at brake pedal  that looks easier  than checking seat belt side of things.  next  fault  no 2   glow plugs,   put it on diagnostic  no faults came up with glow plugs but cannot reet the warning light.  fault no 3  they all happened at the same time,   loss of power,  turbo actuater  locked solid, so started at the solinoid that was ok  checked the pipes no leaks  so ok  actuater solid  so connected up airline and blow in at the actuater inlet with a large screwdriver  freed it of moving up and down  started it up plenty of power, when testing brake lights the vacuum dropped  and  the actuater became solid again  no problem  screwdriver out,   fixed,   give it a run to boost the vacuum up  and i can live with that knowing what the fault is   tom

thanks for ur reply, i think i have  3 faults,  they happened at the same time, fault no 1  glow plugs warning light  flashing,  fault no 2 enginr management light on ,  fault no 3   seat belt warning light on.    diagnostic  code   p0243 turbo waste gate  reg valve,  checked the solinoid   ok then the pipes they where ok    next  actuater that was solid  so  fixed up air line put it into the actuater inlet   freed of the actuater could move it  with the help of a screwdriver  full power restored  engine management  light cleared  not the glow plug one  on the diagnostic machine    fault no3   seat belt light  checked under seats plug etc ok  when testing brake lights, pressing the brake pedal  lost turbo power again  screw diver back out,  so power restored    could  those faults be in coincidental.   tom

original battery by any chance?

have a look at the pipes coming off the black box drivers side wing, in particular the one going down to the turbo waste gate (may need t get under the car to get a good look, support the car securely)

have a look at the vacuum hose going to brake servo
