Coolant top-up

Featured Replies

My CR VRS needs a slight top-up of coolant, but I wanted to check from you knowledgable folk that it was OK to simply buy coolant that matches the VW specification in the book and top it up as much as it needs? Is this safe, or does it need to be drained and re-filled entirely?

I was all set to go ahead and just top-up, but I read something about not mixing coolant so thought it best to check :)

Cheers!

Just top it up with the correct mix of g12 coolant and water . Simple.

I also use a hydrometer to check my coolant is a the correct strength which is especially important in the winter.

Thanks very much  :)

red/purple can be mixed, if you have the green stuff don't mix that!

Wrong Hampton mate... Southampton FC, the mighty Saints! (or mighty Liverpool feeder club, depending on how you see it!) :)

I think that G13 replaced G12 (and G12+ and G12++) a while ago.

I did wonder after I posted :-)

The euphoria of winning two cups has gone to my head :-)

All the best from the saints egg chasers :-)

If it's just half an inch in the expansion tank then plain distilled water will suffice. It won't alter the concentration drastically.
