Fitting HIDs (rear bit!)

Featured Replies

Normally the rear of the headlight are rubber so easy to cut and fit HIDs. The mk1 VRS has a hardened black plastic cover. Anyone fitted HIDs? And how did you tackle the plastic?

Thought about drilling it with one of those circual drill bits then fit a gromet?

I had them fitted, mine just had a small nick out the edge of the cover just enough for the wires to sit in, cant say I had a problem with them misting up

Oh, my bad, either use a grommet or gaffa tape. I didn't have any grommets large enough when I did mine, so tape it was! I haven't had any trouble with them fogging up yet.

My passenger side headlight cluster has been missing the plastic inner cover since before i bought the car 2 yrs ago.

Not once has it fogged up...

Drilled a hole and fitted a grommet on mine. Not fogged up so all good so far.

Interesting. I am just going off previous. My old passat> didnt fit the rubber back properly. Slipped off and my headlight condensated up to death. Took ages to dry up in winter.
