pd150 head bolt torque? ?

Featured Replies

Hi again

after abit of technical info.

does anyone know what torque to do the head bolts on pd150 bolts? Its a pd130 blt running a hybrid if that helps ??

Thanks for your time

Most stretch bolts are torqued to a uniform base setting, usually 20Nm, then tightened in two angular stages, often 180 plus a further 180 for example, there will be experts along who may suggest further tightening or a different regime, I've come across 270 plus 270 on a few occasions. The most important thing is that the block threads are clean and the bolts lightly oiled to guarantee uniformity during tightening, I always run a plug tap into all the block threads and clean 'em out with brake cleaner which evaporates completely then blow them dry using an airline.

You have to undo bolts in order 1, 10, 6, 5, 2, 9, 6, 4, 3, 7 (i.e from outside in) to avoid head warping, and do up in reverse order, and there is a 3 stage process, something like 90Nm and then 2 90 degree turns.  The last stage is bloody tight.

I've not got access to the proper process here unfortunately.

40nm 60nm 90degree 90degree that's what it says on auto data

Thanking yous

Always use new bolts.

stage 1 40nm, 30 ft-lb

stage 2 60nm, 44 ft-lb

stage 3 additional 1/4 turn,

stage 4 additional 1/4 turn.

bolt pattern tightening (reverse if removing) or if you are just replacing for 150 bolts do 1 at a time and clean the thread holes as you

10 4 2 6 8

7 5 1 3 9
