Setting phone to use car ringtone

Featured Replies

I have a Nokia 700 mobile. When I receive a call in the car, the ringtone is from the phone. According to the Octy Owners Manual, it has something to do with the phone supporting the "in-band ringing function", which allows it to use the phone ringtone, but I would rather use one of the vehicle ringtones. Does anyone know how to disable the phone ringtone and make it use the vehicle ringtone instead?

Since I have not yet received a response, let me rephrase the question. If anyone with an Elegance is using the standard handsfree phone setup, via bluetooth, does an incoming call result in the phone ringtone or do you get a vehicle ringtone, selected from the list in the infotainment phone settings?

If you get the car ringtone, how did you set it up?

I get the car ringtone. I did not set it up, it has always been that way.

when my I phone rings in the car, it is the phone ring tone, but when my work nokia phone rings its the cars ringtone. don't know why but its done that from first connection. you can select from a list of tones from the cars system and im sure there's an option to change it. ill go and look in a bit.

just had a look and it looks like its automatic only, I cant see an option to select it.

Yep, looks like it is dependent on which phone you have. Can't see anything in the phone settings to change it either. Must admit I expected a lot better of the Sat Nav/Telephone capability from the VAG, but it's light years behind the Carminat system that was in my previous 2009 Laguna. Thanks for taking the trouble to check this out for me.

No probs, not very good really

I agree..the system in my mk2 was better..it could even read text messages to me.

Does your phone ring as well as putting the ringtone through the car speakers? It does in mine. In my previous car the phone didn't ring after selecting "use vehicle ringtone" in the setup.

No I just get the ringtone from my phone through the cars speakers, the phone doesn't ring. It's an iphone btw.

You could always change your phone. If you get a SG5 you will have the cars ringtone as Android doesn't support this feature. Maybe a costly work around though.

Is there anyone out there using a Nokia (Symbian Belle) Mobile and Columbus where the phone doesn't ring and the car speaker system does (Car Ringtone Selected) when you receive an incoming call? If so, would you please be so kind as to post the settings that your phone is set to, particularly in the Settings>Phone>Accessories>Wireless Car Kit> Default Profile and whether or not Settings>Connectivity>Bluetooth>Remote SIM Mode is set to On or OFF. Thanks.
