Superb CR 140 Engine Fault

Recommended Posts

Hi Looking for some advice on an engine problem

Superb 2.0tdi in limp mode with engine light and glow plug light on constant

Took car to skoda specialist and they said a faulty Accelerator pedal. Got it replaced but they then said it had not cleared the fault and it must be something else.

More diag's and wiring all checked out. Then they said it must be the ECU that is gone take it to a main dealer.

Has anybody had any similar problems

cheers

Mine did the same. It was the throttle valve control module. Got it changed and all is good.

It's I'd basically the first thing you see at the frontbofvthe engine when you pop the bonnet. It has two motors in it which open the throttle valves. One of the motor was not working properly.

Good luck.

Thanks guys I will get my new mechanic to try this and see what he comes back with.

Got them to put the old pedal back in all right. They did not mind doing that but then he produced a bill and I said whats that for you have not solved a thing so I do not intend on paying.

I think I could be waiting on the apology.

Will keep you informed as to how I get on.

OK I'll pass that on also. Yes my superb is early 2010

I know nothing about cars so I can only pass on observations and hope for experts to come back to me.

Since the post the DPF light is now on also. Looking a the forum a lot of people are saying there is a reservoir in the boot that needs checked and also a sensor on the exhaust system is also a common fault.

Could they all be interlinked or is it a series of faults just all happening together.

I have also noticed that because the car is in Limp mode the Air Con does not work. Blower is fine but not cooling from vents. Is this common in limp mode or is it another fault do you think.

thanks for all the great feedback.

If yours is a PD engine it will probably have the tank in the boot, CR I'm not sure about, it's Urea that goes in it, I'd try the motor factors before the dealers for it and find someone who knows how to re-fill it properly, the fluids gold dust £15 per Litre and it holds a few litres as well iirc,

If the tank still has fluid in it you need to get out and heat the turbo up asap, go for a ten mile drive and hold the engine at 2500-3000rpm, this should clear it, otherwise it's a foot down mechanic with a laptop connected gunning it stationary for too long, if you have to go that route I'd get the oil changed first if it's more than 6000 miles old as regens can dump fuel and additives into the engine oil and weaken it so on full throttle you want max protection.
