Another goodbye thread

Featured Replies

Well I finally got around to it, after 19 months with my Fabia, which has proved pretty much trouble free unlike some on here, me and the Fabia are to part ways.

She's being traded in for a Full Fat Clio 200 with Cup Suspension, Recaro's and Speedline's in the excellent Racing Blue colour. The lure of getting back into something manual and fun to drive again proved too strong, and I succumbed. I've got to wait for my private plate to be retained before completing the deed, but if anyone is after a well looked after example of a Fabia vRS that doesn't burn oil or cause any hassle let me know and I can tell you when its going to be available.

I'll probably still lurk around on here for a while though as I've got a few parts that will be coming up for grabs, Carpet mats, Boot Mat, Touch up kit, Audi R8 oil cap to mention a few, I'll get around to taking pics and doing a for sale thread over the next few days.

Also its a long shot but if anyone is after an upgraded CAT back exhaust system I have a Jetex on the car, and would need a standard in exchange, give me a shout and we will see if we can sort something out.

So thanks for the useful threads, and banter over the past year and a half, who knows I may be back in a Skoda in a few years time.:)

Goodbye! For now ;) all the best, hope the mpg doesn't get out of hand.

feel free to hang around/attend meets ect :)

I had a Clio 200 12 months prior to having the Fabia, great cars, took mine to Silverstone for a track day and it was amazing through the corners.

I changed to try and get better fuel economy and I wanted an auto.

The ideal car for me would be the Clio, but with the Fabia gearbox and engine,

Excellent, I know the Clio isn't the greatest for MPG but my mileage has dropped considerably due to a new job and lift sharing and the odd company car for the evening.

The Fabia has been excellent, really quick and surprises a lot of people, super slick gearchange from the DSG and handled great when I had the coilovers on, its always just been a bit...dull if thats the right way to describe it for me. I love driving, and the DSG box as superb as it was, took the fun away from me.

My mate's got a Clio 200 which I've driven a couple of times and I really really really don't like it.

Feels tinny, clutch is heavy as hell and it makes a rough noise. Just my personal opinion and i'm sure a lot of people will completely disagree with me!

Hope it goes well anyway

I'm just away to trade in next week for a brand new Fiesta ST3 with the Mountune upgrade so we're in similar circumstances except, I've had my VRS for 3 years now!

Never missed a beat and only real issues i've had have been relatively superficial. Great cars!!

I think, from memory, the 182 was the one to have. The 197 etc were abit of a let down compared.

Having said that. I hate french cars anyway, so id have neither haha.

When do you pick up the Clio?

What I personally found excellent in Fabia MK2 vRS is the "S" mode during track work. It keeps me in exactly the right gear leaving my limited brain capacity to deal with the round thing in front of me and that largish to step on before corners to the left of the foot well  . I havea  manual car and my vRS in the family and despite manual being admittedly "the much better car" I stopped enjoying it after being spoiled by DSG.

I do however understand the fondness towards manual boxes :)
