Few things for my VRS (advice)

Featured Replies

Just got my vrs, 56 plate not sure which engine code?

It's completely standard but want add a few things.

Want use the carbon cda enclosed air filter and use the cold air feed instead of buying the pd160 intake?

Also decat and straight thru and leave original back box

Then a front mount

Egr delete

And a remap

Is there anything else that would be better to use or anything else to add?

No need for a front mount unless you're going to put a bigger turbo on it mate.

Put the money towards something else :)

Leave the air intake standard, there are little/no gains to be had by messing about in that area, on the standard turbo at least.

Exhaust wise the standard system is said to flow well enough for around 200bhp so unless you want to go beyond this it's not really worth putting money into. Though a de-cat can be beneficial when combined with a FMIC and a good map.

The Front mount IC and replacing all the pipes is a good shout as the standard ones are known to be leaky.

EGR delete, if you have a newer BLT engine code I'd leave it alone because the anti-shudder valve is part of the unit and it can cause more problems than it solves by removing it. No real performance benefit to removing it anyway! - I've heard the EGR on the BLT can be mapped closed so in effect it removes it anyway. Maybe worth taking it off along with the inlet manifold and giving everything a clean out to help maximise the gains from any mods.

Personally I'd spend the money on improving the handling and braking first, as they aren't brilliant as standard and to me it's pretty pointless just adding more power if you can't get it down and use it properly.

Brakes. Are worth considering if your going for more power.
