What are these?

Featured Replies

Noticed them when I bought the car, but never really thought about them before. They look like parking sensor jobbies, but if they are, I can't figure out how they work. Any ideas? (I'm talking about the small round things on the bumper. I know the pic isn't the best. :))

Car is a 1.4 03 Elegance. :)

Yes should be reverse sensors.

Pop the car in reverse and start moving closer to something.

They are not factory fit ones in my experience, but putting it in reverse with ignition on and walking towards the bumper should give an audible warning.

Speaker is probably in the boot area, so try it with the boot open.

It does beep when I put it into reverse, but I thought that was a Fabia thing. It doesn't make any noise when I'm reversing, even when I get close to something. My Mum's car has factory fitted sensors and they start screaming if you get within a foot of something. Maybe it is making noise and I just can't hear it? Or maybe they've been disconnected?

Thanks :)

My car had never made a noise in reverse.

My car has them (will look tomorrow but sure mine are higher up in the rubber area), they do go mental when I get to within a foot of an object (beeping gaps gets shorter with distance to said object) and yet I can also not notice them. Like the time I reversed straight back into another car in car park after a long night shift, just three weeks after getting my car (moral: don't drive when tired, and don't reverse either).

I've never heard it beep while I'm reversing. It beeps a couple of times when I first put it into gear, and then nothing. Maybe I'm still too far away? I'd go and have a play with it but it's gone if for its MOT!
