DAB / GPS antenna part numbers?

Featured Replies

Hello all

I've got a DAB Columbus on its way to me, and need a new antenna for it. Does anyone have available the part number for the genuine roof mounted antenna which works with DAB and GPS? I went to the dealers today and although they were very helpful, we couldn't solve the mystery.

I'm addition to this, I will also need the DAB and GPS cables, again, we couldn't find these part numbers either :(

Any help would be gratefully received!

Get antenna from eBay just search Europe not just uk, as for cables www.carsystems.eu

Should do the job

Thanks for that link, I was trying to find that antenna too :)

Not sure what cables go to my standard roof antenna. At present running a windscreen DAB antenna so will need to get a DAB cable.

Anyone know what others I will need to ge the telephone on.

I will not need one for my satnav, as my satnav antenna is built into top of dash as part of the Kenwood upgrade.

Thanks Dave. I've ordered that antenna now (all be it from a uk source).

Struggling to find the cables. I would really like to order from a dealer as I have some leave coming up and want to fit it all then, but when asked, the dealer gave me a blank look!

I bought these in the past and they are very good quality indeed -they took about 10 days to get made to order and come from China. I asked them if they could make them in a 5m length to which they responded by making the eBay listing for me, that was for a Fabia - so you may need to get them made longer for an Octavia. Don't be put off by them coming from China as the service was top notch.

part number for the 5m extension is 000 098 656

Thanks Greenstripe, I'm hoping to get it done sooner than that but otherwise I would give them a go.

Thanks Eddie. Are they both the same?

Phil

The part number is a Genuine VAG item

the other is a Chinese Special

The VAG item is better quality but at a price

Not wishing to start an argument - I would dispute that. Granted not all things bought on the internet from China are very good quality, however this particular cable is very high high quality and is RG316 grade, so very flexible (good for retrofitting) - I would put money on the VW cable being made to a lower standard and costing a lot more.

I couldn't care less

I bought my cable from Poland for half the price of a VW one

Sorry, I was meaning, are the dab leads and gps leads the same? I need both.

Phil

I have used the genuine one for my GPS and bought the other one from poland for the DAB

both will work fine, just put some tape on one so you don't mix them up

Interesting to see the difference in price between getting one from Germany and one from the UK.

.......can't beleive that 2 extension cables would be nearly £100!

that is because he is selling them to make a profit, a strange concept that gets over looked when looking at an item.

He got his cables from the same place I got mine from for around £13 each

The cables can be the same, however the Fakra plugs have a little projection that prevents you plugging two different types in to each other one unless you use a universal 'Z' (turquoise colour) jacks

This may help:

Quick question, maybe silly;

On the GSM part of the antenna for telephone reception how does this connect?

I connect my mobile via Bluetooth and it uses the existing antenna on the phone. So if I purchase the above antenna I would not connect anything to the gsm, is that correct?

I assume the gsm would only be connected if I had a proper telephone dock/cradle which would then connect the phone to the auxiliary gsm on car roof via the cradle like the old Nokia car kits is this correct?

So in essence as I have an in the dash GPS for my built in satnav, I only need to connect the FM and the DAB plugs? The rest are not really required.

GSM connection to the shark fin is only on the premium BT where the phone is on RSAP

all other Hands free uses the phone antenna
