Rear VRS tyre replacement

Featured Replies

My rear tyres, which are the factory conti's are now getting low, however, they seem to be wearing from the outside edge to in.

There is only about 1mm more tread on the inside edge, so not major, compared to what is possible.

I had a 4 wheel alignment done in January, some 13,000 miles ago.

I have Vreds sessantas on the front and have read that the goodyear AS2's,. uniroyal R3's or vreds vorti's may be the way to go.

Which of these will be quieter inside, and perhaps not wear out too quickly, considering the originals have done 45k.

Decent rim protection is a must

Also should I get another  4 wheel alignment whilst being changed?

I'm veering towards the Uni's atm as they are £99 fitted at Jungle

Thanks

I have just fitted 4 Hancook V12 Evos to mine and the road noise is good for a directional pattern.

I managed to get mine for 70+VAT fitted.

Verds Vorti every time, they are outstanding.

Depends what you want from a tyre, but for me grip and handling are top of the list. I've fitted GY F1 Assy 1 or 2 to my last three cars and I wouldn't fit anything else now. They transform the car. The rim protector is good too.

Avoid Maxxis MAZ1. Actually a good tyre but the rear of the Octy doesn't like them and sawtooths even after alignment.

I read that tyres with large blocks of tread fore more prone to sawtoothing. Can't find any evidence but might be worth considering before you put on rear tyres.

I had Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance on the front of the car before I traded and thought there were very good and quiet. I would have put the same on the rear had I kept the car.

I am now leaning towards the goodyear f1 AS2 now as I have seen fitted for around £110 per corner

Are these better than the vreds @ £110 or Uni R3 @ £99?

Looking for grip, longevity and less prone to sawtoothing

Thanks

On my last Octy vRS, I monitored the wear on a spreadsheet (yes I'm that sad), and I expected the fronts to last around 15k, rear 45k, or up to 30k overall if swapped around as I would have done. I didn't keep the car long enough to wear them out so I don't know 100% what mileage they would have done, but wear didn't seem excessive to me. I did 9k on them with no signs of sawtoothing or odd wear.

My bro has a 52 plate Leon Cupra with Uniroyal Rainsports and he likes them, however he bought them on price and would have gone with Goodyear if they were cheaper at the time. Another point about the Goodyear is that the wet grip is also excellent. At the end of the day though I think you'll be happy with any of your short list. They all get good reviews.

Websites like Camskill sell the Goodyear at reasonable money if that's any help

Accelera tyres are a good performance budget tyre. About £65-£70 each and the tread pattern is VERY similar to the Contis [emoji106]
