I bought a Brodit phone holder which fits (without screws) over the vent in the center console. Very neat, and in good reach. Pricy though.

If you want to keep your air grills free from obstructions try dashmount - they do several for the Octy. They also do some universal ones that slide in beside the radio - I used one of those in my Superb - the problem with that was that the Skoda headunit was a bit too much of a tight fit - solved with a little file and some patience. However the problem will be that either solution will cost alot more than you paid for what you are trying to support.!
