faultyparking sensors

Hi I have searched the forum can't find anything on faulty sensors .When reverse is engaged the display shows the car and bleeps for about  seconds then display and sound stop.Anyone came across this any advice would be appreciated.

Hi John,

Just the obvious questions, have you reversed up close to something to activate the parking assist beeps as just engaging reverse will only activate a single beep until you are really close to an object. Also, are your sensors on rear bumper all clean as road film will nullify them. 

If you have done the above ( sorry it's a bit elementary!) then you need to go to dealer for diagnostic check as definitely a fault.

Stick it in reverse with just ignition on. Then put your finger on each sensor, then should be pulsing ever so slightly. If one isn't then this is the faulty sensor. My bora did this and replaced the sensor.

Vcds tells you which one is faulty too as it will log a fault.

Road film will have no bearing on this working or not.

Good points there, The point I was making is that sensors need to be clean to operate properly :thumbup:

Hi tried putting my finger over them as you suggested no reaction at all .They are clean and no road film .Think I will have to find where they go back to must be in the boot somewhere
