Just after a little advice really.

Iv been using autoglym HD wax for a while, on different vehicles and i do like the results. However, i think its time for something a little more durable and containing carnauba (spelling?) wax, not fully synthetic.

So iv had a few days googling around, and eventually went for a sample pot of the 'Dodo Juice Supernatural' to try out.

I plan to do the following:

Wash

Autoglym cleanser

Claybar (do i need to cleanse aswell as this?)

Wash again

Autoglym super resin polish

Apply dodo juice supernatural, leave 30-40 minutes, buff off, leave another 15 mins and buff off again.

Does this sound okay?

Is there a particular polish that would go better with it, and give me better results?

My cars a 2013 fabia, in silver.

AGSRP is full of fillers....so it's just really a temporary solution to paintwork correction

However...you're topping it with a good wax...so it should mask/hide the fine scratches quite well

Im still very new to this and snowed under by options every time i do a google search.

What polish would you recommend mate? Is there something that will give me a better shine? Nothing too pricey, up to £30 or something perhaps.

The cars obviously quite new, never been washed by anybody else other than myself, and always been waxed. So i like to think paint damage is at a minimum.

Get some PoorBoy's Natty's carnauba paste wax. It's not too shabby

If there are visually few scratches then AGSRP is fine to use as it will enhance the paintwork AND add a small amount of protection too

BUT

I'm not a huge fan of it personally but it does what it says ...An AIO (All in One) cleaner and sealer polish with fillers

However if you really want a flawless finish, then there are polishes and techniques that will do that...by hand or with Machine polishers

In your case..as a novice, if you excuse the expression, you will do ok with a cleaner polish and follow that with some wax

or if you like hard work..use some Gtechnik P1 with a hand polishing pad. This will remove any blemishes and light swirls permanently

I'll have a good look at that, and probably go for it in 100ml form for now.

I dont mind hard work at all, aslong as its rewarding in the end. I darent use a machine polisher tbh, im too much of a novice, heard too many horror stories, and i guess im too much of a wuss haha.

My mate put another layer of Swissvax Glacier (ontop of the £800 one, and other layers the detailer put on) on his white GTR last night. Its currently looking miles better than my little fabia. So its lead me to looking at better products and getting more of a collection going on, plus learning more about them.

What about something like Auto Finesse Rejuvenate? More of a paint cleaner but works well on getting rid of light scratches and swirls. Im not too far from you so could run my DA over it if you wanted. Got plenty of waxes here too that you're more than welcome to try out.

Iv purchased Gtechnic p1 in a 100ml bottle after Chris' recommendation and reading many reviews. I realise its going to be a complete arm buster doing the car, but from what iv read, itll be worth it. Ill only be applying a thin, gentle coat mind, as iv no read imperfections to perfect.

Yanno how it is, this time next month ill be after something new again, if im not completely satisfied. Ill look into auto finesse then, upon your suggestion.

you dont need the AG Cleanser if you're using SRP - they do the same thing. If you choose to use a cleanser rather than SRP then do it last and right before waxing. Your choice does depend on the state of your paintwork though. Unlike Chris I am a bit of a fan of SRP always found SRP a pretty good product in most situations, as its damn quick and easy to use (fairly foolproof as long as you avoid full sun on a hot day) and actually creates a really good base for a final product. YMMV though.

 

I would also ask why you want a carnauba wax rather than the AG HD? Dont get sucked into all the 'wax hype' - you wont tell any difference in the real world. Both AG HD and Supernatural are very long lasting products if the prep is good and they are applied correctly. If you cant get AG HD to last long enough (how long is that?) then you are doing something wrong. I've owned AG HD and still have Supernatural and have used it many times but dont expect some great differences between these products just because you think one has some carnauba in it. There may be other good reasons to try a different product but that isnt one  Dont get me wrong, SN is a superb product that is well worth owning if you like expensive waxes, but just because of the carnauba ingredient it isnt magically different to AG or other products.

Agreed I haven't used it for a long time because of the white residue and dust. That's not to say it's a bad product.

What iv found with AGSRP is the dust is a pain, and the finish doesnt last long. Its okay for a few washes, but then it begins to not look as good (i believe this is the fillers washing out)

HD wax does give a good finish, but it doesnt seen to last that long at all. Iv spent 7 hours preping and waxing before now, and it looks good immediately after, but it wont last me all winter.

I do want to try different products anyway. Im keen to widen my experience with different things.

I guess i want what everybody else does. That show shine that lasts. From what iv read (been bashing the detailing sites for a while now) supernatural would fit the bill.

Not found any change TBH - still fills and can dust although for some reason I've never really had a problem with that? Maybe because I dont work it for that long?

I wouldnt use it if I was claiming to have perfectly polished a panel etc but for most people most of the time a little filling can be a good thing and as long as you put something over it to create a longer lasting finish I think it has a great place in the toolkit. I have had several very nice bottles from grateful friends who have been amazed at the transformation they see with SRP and a good process - but you're right, you cant claim it has eliminated much in the way of swirls/marks.

 

SRP followed by 845 is a cracking finish that can be achieved very easily and fast, and will typically last a winter with light maintenance.

I find AF Tripple much better than SRP to work with, better finish and lasts longer. Currently all I seem to do is recommend AF products!

Yeah everything is abbreviated isnt it haha. Iv got some AF glass cleaner too, and have read a lot about their products.

Just had a brain confusion moment haha.

Okay. I googled that.

And i fear im still wrong. As it doesnt make sense in the context used haha.

AF Crystal Clear is my favourite glass cleaner at the moment, preferring to AG FG!!!  Abbreviations are a pain to the unintiated!!

All my stuff arrived today. Gtechniq p1, dodo supernatural, fine grade clay bar, applicator pads, buffing towel etc etc

I was very tempted to start the car when i eventually finished work at 6:30pm. However after a think between me and my neighbour, we decided id be retarded to do that. Theres simply not enough hours in the day to get all the process' done.

So i decided to do the motorbike tank instead, and it looks good. The Gtechniq really does take some doing. Infact, im going to look like popeye after doing the entire car. Maybe iv bitten off more than i can chew haha.

Nevertheless. The bike tank looked pretty good when id finished (not much better than AG SRP and HD, but will hopefully last longer).

Wish me look for this weekend, if the weathers up for it.
