I've just been speaking a member of staff for the above (tel 0844 573 8017) and it seems that the current rate is £399 for one year's warranty plus Assistance, or £349 without Assistance.  What surprised me was that there's not now an option to purchase 2 years 'at a go' as it were (and so gain a slight discount), but only a year at a time.  Without wanting to re-open all the complications, pros-and cons polemics and confusions that discussions of warranties occasionally seem to attract (gulp!), does anyone know why the 2 year warranty option appears to have been removed?  My paranoia is that when I gave my vehicle's registration to the chap who answered the phone, a quick check at their records revealed to him that my Yeti was the dreaded, about to seize into a storm of shredded metal, cam-belt tensor chewing, 1.8 TSI.  Soothing, reassuring, therapy required please!

I phoned 6 dealers for quotes before paying £600 for 2 years of cover including Assistance. One dealer knew nothing of the availability of cover and the rest quoted significantly different prices. Put another way, the mark-up is down to what individual dealers wish to set it at. BTW, the 1.8TSI has a timing chain not cambelt, and the problem part is the timing chain tensioner.
