Trip Computer Fuel Range Incorrect

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I went to start my Octavia VRS 2.0 Estate 62 plate this morning and it was completely dead. So I checked the battery with my avo meter and the battery was only 3v.  I was going to charge the battery so I disconnected the battery then changed my mind when I found my jump leads.

I jumped the car and everything seems to be ok (apart from the fact my battery or alternator could be on it's way out).

I then refuelled my car and noticed the head up display trip was displaying 325 miles of range.  It normally displays 550 when I refuel.  Have I upset the electronics somewhere along the way in disconnecting the battery?

Thanks

Paul

I wouldn't have thought so.

More likely is the trim computer has been completely reset when you disconnected the battery, and it is bases the range calculation on the MPG you have done since it was last reset. This figure is probably quite low at the moment and will improve as you drive the car.

Hi Booke

Thanks for the swift reply!  I think I see!  The computer needs to learn the range depending on my consumption.

Thanks very much!!

Paul
