Burning oil

Featured Replies

Hi, I've got a 2002 vrs 91k good history which is burning about a litre of oil every 2k or so. It's not leaking from anywhere that I can see and definitely not dripping on to the floor. Last week the wife was behind me at the lights and she noticed that when I sit there for a minute when pull away a puff of blue smoke appears. After going on spirited drive she said nothing was coming from the exhaust. So before I phone about and get prices for stem seals is there anything else I should look for eg breathers.

Mines exactly the same. Im replacing the turbo tomorrow due to the seals going on it.

I don't think it's the turbo seals on mine as it's only doin it at idle, could be wrong. Let us know how you get on.

A compression test would rule out the valve seals, no?

no,has no relevance

Are they a common issue on these engines?

Are your plugs oily?  Might give you a clue also

disconnect turbo hoses if there is oil in there you need to replace the turbo seals.

That depends how much oil? Plenty of these engines have oil in the intake system and intercooler
