Octy Boot Trim - Rattle

Featured Replies

The tailgate trim panel (plastic thingy) is always rattling on my car (and has done since it was new). Is this a common Octy problem? How do I cure it?

Hi

I think this sounds like a problem I had with my VRS. The plastic trim on the tailgate is just clipped on (pretty crudely) by several metal clips. In my case one of these clips wasn't fitted correctly and it was that rattling away.

My local dealer sorted it in about 10mins but it did look like one of those jobs where a bit of knowledge/practice helped when getting all the clips to fit properly.

Yes, this is a fiddlely job, the source of your rattle is most likely a loose clip. Prise the trim off, then get in the boot (minus parcel shelf), pull the hatch closed and locate the panel in the correct position and bang on each clipping point with the side of your fist. This approach is far easier than trying to reattach the panel while the boot hatch is up in the air in the open position.
