I assume this is:

  • Oil filter and oil (obviously)
  • air filter
  • pollen filter
  • spark plugs

But what else? I presume brake fluid is extra. It's going in tomorrow since I've done 10000 miles in 4 months :o They do a service plan where you pay £300 and get 2 services. It's a saving so I'll take them up on it.

Is there anything else worth changing at this point? My windscreen is being done Tuesday and Eibach and Bilsteins by the end of the week hopefully.

Fuel filter.

Ah that's what I missed. Thanks.

There is no Fuel Filter on the service schedule.

Is this the 40,000 mile service being done at 3 years old.?

Did the car require & have the Service Campaign Field Action on the DSG ?

I had oil filter and brake fluid done at this service

The official Schedule on the Brake Fluid is at 3 years then each 2 years.

I think the Skoda National Pricing has increased the Brake Fluid Change price shown from £45 to £49

Just see what the Dealership says they are Charging.

Their quoted price to change Spark Plugs can be a Crazy £90 Plus.

do the wheels not come off for the first official brake check?

A Skoda UK Service does not have Wheels coming off in a Minor Service 12 months/ 10.000 miles.

At a Major 20,000 mile service 'INSPECTION SERVICE',  the 'Rear Drums' on cars with Rear Drums,

should be removed and cleaned so wheels come off the rear or should.

But the Wheels might not be off other than to remove Rear Drums, or to do Brake Fluid Changes, or if a Technician does remove wheels.

Variable Servicing might mean the Wheels might not be off the car over a couple of winters,

the same with any Dealership Service & Maintenance,

where it mostly is Fluids. Filters  & look see, but not true, 'Servicing & Maintenance'.

Look & Report Actions Required.

It's not 3 years old yet but I'm thinking of having brake fluid changed anyway. There's been no mention of recall to me as I haven't seen the dealer in person. Been so busy with work I had to drop the car off this morning with the receptionist and cycle home, then tomorrow I borrow my brother's car for work, finish early and go down in the evening to collect it.

I'm emailing the service guy now as I want him to look at the usual things that affect all Skoda's. Rear badge and alloy wheel centre caps delaminating and looking like they have a white worm in them. I've also noticed this on two of my alloys too on the polished edge of the rim. Not sure if I'll get anything replaced under warranty.

The badges being replaced under Warranty should be straightforward.

The Dark Chrome Gigaro if anyone has them with White Spider should be straightforward, yet some still have the Dealers making that more of a PITA than needed.

So White Corrosion showing near the Wheel Centre and up the Spokes.

Anything around the rim/ Tyre Bead Area is more of a difficulty.

Wear there can be blamed on Tyre Changes, and a hashy job done, where you have had a few tyre changes, they might be right.

So take pictures and have the Dealer Take pictures, and see what Skoda says.

If you think it is not Tyre Changer related, have them get the Warranty Manager check the Wheels,

you might need to get the car in while he is there visiting the Dealership.

One major thing to check while in Warranty is your Seat Base on the Drivers Seat.

Is it still moving OK.  Are the Runners & Locking mechanism OK.

I had one that was stuck, so could  not be MOT'd,  it was a case of a Brand New Seat Base under Warranty.

It's just the bolsters starting to flatten. The seat runners are fine. My brother had this on his Swift and Suzuki changed with without hesitation.

I'm currently going through a long term battle to get my wheels replaced due to white worm corrosion, I have it quite bad around the Skoda badges and the wheel rim from stone chips etc.

The Dealer has been dragging their feet about the whole thing. After getting Skoda UK involved it has started to move quicker, but it's still been over 6 months since initial complaint! I'm hoping for all 4 wheels to be replaced.

There are another few Members i know that are being messed around at present.

I have had 6 new Dark Chrome Gigaros under warranty.  Only hassle with one wheel, being replaced, and i had the Warranty Manager Inspect it.

(not on only one car.)

So many owners have been having the Faulty Manufactured wheels replaced right from 2011, without much dispute.

The last 2 wheels i received as replacments under warranty in 2013 appeared to be far better finished, and are still perfect.

The dark chrome wheels ****ed me off that much I had them powder coated my self in black. My dealer said at one point it was people who change the tyres scratching the wheels which then let's corrosion in. Couldn't be bothered with hassle so had them done.

Don't regret it though as in my opinion the black goes better with the green

One Scottish Dealer Principle told a Forum Member just recently that he asked Skoda & they had never heard of the problem.

That was to a customer of 20 Years, that spent lots of money there.

I do believe Skoda HQ Staff have not heard of things,  because they might not be there long due to their lack of interest in Vehicles

or resolving problems, and having the Factory or Management sort out Quality Control.

Or they are trained in 'Admit to nothing.'  Just Replace if we must.

Something that Skoda seemed to have picked up from the Parent Company.

My rear badge and some of the alloy badges are also worn. Same as you describe, white patches on them. Didn't know these could be covered under warranty :-)

Sorry I know it's off subject a little but I'm also having problems with rear drivers side door handle. It keeps sticking. I mentioned it to dealers and they told me to spray some w40 on it. Not really happy with their advice as you can imagine...I'm assuming door handle would be covered under warranty also? Cheers

my door handle was also sticking so i just applied wd40 myself and its been fine since, some little things just need a bit of lubrication (no innuendo intended)

True but did you try lubing the handle?

I know ten friends with ten cars from ten different marques that have had this with a door handle sticking open.

Overwhelming majority solved with some lube (not necessarily WD40 though)

Thanks guys. I've not tried lubing it up yet but will do soon :-). It's been getting worse, so I need to get cracking!

How much it costed roughly to have them powder coated? Thinking of getting my silver ones made black as cars white with black roof or buy different alloys.

Mine are the black gigaro's and it's the polished rim that's going. It's only recently I noticed

Likely to be the Tyre Changer not taking care.

Just finished touching up a pair of Black Gigaro this morning,  touching in the black that was kerbed

& Lacquering the Machined edge that was showing wear after having had about 3 tyre changes..

How much it costed roughly to have them powder coated? Thinking of getting my silver ones made black as cars white with black roof or buy different alloys.

Mine cost £58 a wheel. That was with them removing and fitting the tyres and re balancing the wheels. Also came with a 12 month warranty.

Cheers Andy.
