Improve gear changes

Featured Replies

Done the gear linkage reset a few weeks back, gear changes are much better....still feels soft though imo, is there are way to stiffen gear changes? I think the bushes can be upgraded to metal ones, there was a group buy a while back I believe. Not sure if anyone has done anything similar recently? Any links to parts would be great or any tips as such to help improve!

Cheers

Wasn't aware of this mod, will be searching for it now! Thanks

Yes I did both. I got them from the group buy but will see if I can find a link

Basically hacksaw and take an inch off the length of the gear lever. Drill out gearknob so no tab inside. Then jubilee clip the knob back on and you have a pikey short shifter

Top man Dark Hero! Much appreciated

Cheers pal

Anyone know the diameter of the gear shifter? Wouldn't mind changing it to a metal JDM style knob, drive my mates old civic with one in and it felt awesome

Can't order the parts directly off the suppliers in America, have to order from Awesome GTI I think, unless I'm really confused but I couldn't work it out

That would make sense. I think it must have been the volume of the group buy that enabled us to go direct

Yep must have been! Thanks for your help anyway bud.

Just bought them from awesome GTi and PSI Tuning

As Charlie has mentioned above the bushes are well worth doing, as you get a more precise and positive shift.

Tbh I'm not too sure, all I know is I want nice solid gear changes. With that in mind I've gone for both the cable end bushes and bracket bushes

Makes sense to do both.

It's just a shame there isn't a short shifter mod available.

I can't believe one hasn't been made yet with how many cars have this gearbox

I know Charlie I would almost definitely be parting with some cash if their was.

Somebody a while ago mentioned a dieselgeek kit fitting but not sure, they are expensive.

Bought a kit for my last car, was a great mod.

Shame Forge don't do one or somebody similiar.

I contacted diesel geek and sent them pictures of the Fabia set up but they advised it wouldn't fit. Maybe it's time we asked forge to develop one?
