issue with rear passenger window

Featured Replies

I only discovered this issue today.

If I open the drivers door and try and put down/up the rear drivers side window from the drivers control it wont do anything. All other windows operate as normal. The window can be operated from its own control.

Any ideas????

Thanks Matt

Does the window go up and down automatically if you let go of the switch? or do you have to keep the switch pressed all the way?

It will go up and down automatically. Just whenever I have the drivers door open, the rear drivers side window wont go down

If when the drivers door is open the rear one can be operated by its own switch then it probably a damaged wire in the drivers door loom.

A scan with VCDS may reveal a problem with the car's wiring so you can at least narrow it down.

I had a similar issue with the automatic all windows down feature when you hold down the unlock button on the key fob. All the windows would come down except the rear drivers side window. I was ready to get it booked in at the dealer when it started working again. I will keep an eye on it and see if the problem comes back.

Hi, I think a few of us have had similar issues with windows & folding mirrors.  Thanks to someone who said.... open & close all windows with Keyfob if it doesn't solve problem then sit in car & from drivers window control open all & close all and fold & open mirrors. (why not do it a couple of times for good luck...:-)

Then hey presto get out of car & use key fob & windows all open & close & mirrors fold again.... not sure why but it appears to reset some temporary fault. Must be some logic behind it as it seems to work... one day it will get you (like it did me) so when bored & sat in car park waiting for SWMBO I had a tinker & problem solved.

Rgds & thanks to whoever suggested it first LOL

Thanks for all the replies folks. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. The car is booked in with my mechanic to get two rear shocks and a service done tomorrow so will have him have a look at it too.

I was primarily wworriedas yhe car was going for its NCT (MOT) and one of the things they check in Taxis is that all windows go up and down, and they usually use the drivers controls with the doors open so was not looking forward to that.

In regards to opening the windows with the fob, they will all come down too until I open the drivers door and then the rear drivers window wont come down.
