Glow plug light on dash

Featured Replies

I started the car this morning and the glow plug indicator on the dash flashed twice after the engine had started  on a 2010 Octavia 1..6 TDI .  I was wondering has anyone else noticed this or is it even a problem ??

When I had a mk1 Octavia, this was a signal that the brake light switch had gone. Can you check your brake lights? Failing this, find a member near you that can scan your car for you.

Tue glow plug light doubles as the "something's gone wrong" light. If your brake lights work OK then time to get the car scanned with VCDS.

Ok have scanned car with this

QuickLynks T55 OBD2 Scanner Diagnostic Engine, Airbag, ABS, Auto Trans VAG + VW

No codes stored . The glow plug light did flash several timesyesterday  but has not done so for the last 100 miles. The brake light are good and checked the trottle switch look secure. The only thing i can think of was that i serviced car approx 1500 miles ago and used a aftermarket diesel filter.  Is there any point in getting the car scanned by VCDS when the above scanner is not finding any stored codes ??

Thanks for any advice.

The scanners do not return all faults, VCDS will :)

Thanks will look into getting it scanned with VCDS

There's a VCDS owner map here, so you should be able to find a local member who can scan it for you.

Well after several days of the  Glow plug light flashing the engine maanagement light has now come on. I  have scanned the car and found this error - code P2454  Diesel Particulate Filter Differential Pressure Sensor Circuit Low ?????

Can anyone assist with this and finding it hard to locate code.

How do i find the VCDS  owners map ???

Thanks Guys for any help or advice.

Look in the VCDS/Diagnostics forum on here.

Any idea were the DPF sensor is located ?????

A bit facetious, but on the DPF :) Which is behind the engine after the turbo.

Any idea were the DPF sensor is located ?????

There are 2, one before the dpf and one after.

VCDS may give more information. Beyond that be prepared to change both.

Ok have ordered a Pressure Differential sensor for DPF from SKODA £70 and vehicle booked in for adaption cycle after sensor is fitted. They origianly wanted 1 Hrs labour to change sensor and another hour to carry out the adaption cycle £204. So will fit it myself all of two minutes then let them have the car for 1 hrs labour £102 . I was wondering if i purchased a VCDS myself would i then be able to carry out this adaption cycle myself in order to avoid rip off dealer prices.

Yes VCDS can do the adaption. Is there not anyone near you with VCDS?

Finial update fault was the DPF Pressure sensor and had loacl Skoda dealer run a adaption cycle (1/2 Hours labour could of been worse orininally quoted 1 hrs labout ) all good and no more flashing glow plug light on the dash. The new sensor is slightly different and requires a longer bolt to retain it on its mounting.
