Heated rear seats now available in the UK

Featured Replies

Apologies if this has been posted before, but I just noticed that you can now get heated rear seats in the UK according to the configurator. It's an extra £200 on top of the cost of the fronts.

I love how the options you can choose seem to change randomly over time, things come and things go... not sure why they don't just offer everything to every country and let people actually pick what they want.

Although heated rear seats not a big issue for me as only really me and my girlfriend at the mo, no kiddies (yet) to keep warm in winter!

And even then, until they're 11 they will be in car seats / on booster seats, making heated rear seats pointless.

I'm not sure I'd want to put a bag of greasy food on my seats... that's what the bag hooks in the boot are for!

Glad it isn't just me.......

And if they are anything like mine, they'll spend their entire life turning the heated seats on and off, ruining the button, the heaters, and your fuel economy!

My girlfriend was playing with the heated front seats only a few weeks ago because it was "a little cold"... you don't need kids to break your shiny new car :D

Or play the game where you turn the passenger seat on full when your passenger isn't looking.

So much fun.

Yep its great for teaching the mother-in-law what a hot flush is really all about. Tee hee hee

They've been available since the configurator was updated to MY15 in 2nd week of May.

Not with mine, number 1 was the requisite 135cm tall when he was 6 and number 2 is going to be the same. Still, I'm not telling them about this option otherwise my two month old vRS will have to be traded....

I've got the heated seats because I specced the leather, but have to say they're not something I've ever really been bothered about - perhaps more of an issue for drivers in the Baltics.

Always referred to them as incontinence seats, as that warm feeling you get (always seems in every car I've had them on that when you first switch them on, nothing happens for about a minute, and then there's a sudden rush of warmth in the nether regions) reminds me of what it was like as a very young child (or alcohol impaired teenager) when your bladder got one over on you… and perhaps of what's to come in my old age.

Basically I tend to find the heating a little uncomfortable, but maybe it's just my overtly warped imagination.

I think I would prefer the AC cooled seats rather than heated seats.

Have you used the climate controlled seats?

Tried one for the first time in the states last Summer.  Blisteringly hot day so turned the seats to cool.  About 10 seconds later it felt like someone was rubbing ice over the back of my legs (and I was in trousers not shorts).  Had to turn them off!

They sound great in theory but are really wierd in practise.  You pay alot of money to be uncomfortable if used.

Ice? Sounds spot on if you ask me. Had climate seats previously and yes, I've been more dependant on the cooling than the heating function in winter. The end result depends on the manufacturers implementation. The US cars do get a hefty piping of AC to the seat but then when you're driving through Death Valley into Vegas for instance with 114 degrees air temperature they are a very much appreciated facility. Over here? Not so convinced.

Also ended up with heated seats but in our case I really only wanted the heated screen; at the time of ordering the winter pack was the only way of getting the 'hot glass'
