AMD TECHNIK remaps

Featured Replies

Hello again more advice needed :-)

I'm looking to get my car remapped but my experience with AMD isn't great.

I wanted them to fit me a clutch an recon my gear box they booked me in for 2 weeks time had the car an hour rung me up an told me that my clutch was slipping an my gearbox needed reconditioning booked me in for another 2 weeks wait!! I got the clutch an gearbox done somewhere else.

Next thing I ring AMD asking for a miltek turbo back an coilovers, we'll there using a new supplier that don't make coilovers for the octavia vrs?! And I had to wait 30 days for them to get the exhaust in stock obviously I didn't wait I rang awesome GTI who had one delivered to me the next day an for cheaper :-)

BUT..........

They have got me booked in for a remap but the more an more I read the more an more I see AMD are not sounding very good I'm not an expert on remapping but I know a bit!! I've fitted a new FMIC a SFS oversized tip a forge 008 dv and a miltek de cat and cat back exhaust and the questions I would like to ask is........

1. Has anyone had any experience with AMD if so how was it?

2. Would there map take into account my oversized tip an new intercooler an exhaust

3. I keep reading about custom maps are these a better option?

4. Is there anything I should be telling them before they remap it?

If there is anything anyone thinks I should know about getting my car remapped please feel free to offer your advice or recommend someone over then AMD I'm in the kent area but would travel a bit if it means I'm gettin my money's worth

Thanks guy :-)

If I owned a 1.8T I'd be heading to R-Tech in Hinckley.

Yes, a bit of a hike from Kent, but there are plenty of folks who make the journey there. Nick is your man. That is all.

I'm making the ~270-mile journey round trip to R-tech in Hinckley for my map. The fact that they have a 2-month waiting list for custom mapping speaks for itself.

Quite a few people have been saying these guys I think I'll give them a ring, don't AMD do the same sort of maps as these guys?

Given that experience I wouldn't go to AMD.

W8 Performance are near you aren't they? They do Shark maps.

top bloke is W8 ill be taking my new vrs there as soon as i get it

Where are w8 I've had a look on a website but it has no address?

Thanks for your replies :-)

Rtech will map the car to the mods so custom.

99% of the others are generic maps so depends what you want

W8 are near to Tonbridge

I can only speak based on my experience years ago. Booked my 4x4 1.8T in for an AMD remap, gave them the reg and chassis no etc. Turned up for the appointment, waited a while and then told 'sorry' its not a vRS we can't do it... Went to Jabbasport and they were excellent.

Rtech or badger bill seem to be the 1.8t wizards

My wallet is burning :-)

I'm after a remap I havnt heard good reviews of AMD but your name has popped up a few times could you tell me the difference between the maps you do and the maps AMD do??

Thanks

Shark maps are more refined than amd

Not for big numbers but are probably the smoothest out there by a mile

Only thing and can do is put it on rolling road so you can see what your getting.

You must make sure your car has noraks and it's worth logging run before to see what's happening etc

Niki Gower @ r tech I  known in the vag community as THE WIZARD, he will live custom map your car to the mods you have on it.

I'm my chats with him, he said flow is key. The better the hardware, the better the numbers simple as that.

Bare in mind this guy holds the current UK records for ko3 and ko3s turbos...

His rep is highly regarded as the best in the UK!

Badger 5 are good (Bill).. but my car will be going to niki at r tech for sure

If you want to try before you buy. Pop over and have a go in my W8 performance Mk1 octy VRS

You looked at your logs yet Pete ?

I'm also looking for a map so can I borrow your car for a few days lol

Yeah logging done. Actual boost not reaching requested boost. Have replaced MAP sensor and diverter valve. Will do some more logging this week.

Give me a shout if you need a hand dude
