Skoda Octavia Stops Accelerating

Featured Replies

Not sure how to explain this but my 2003 skoda octavia stops accelerating when I am driving it.  It can be at any speed, it will just stop accelerating.  The engine keeps running like it is idling.  I normally wait a few seconds and drop the car into lower gear and then it will go again.  Some times it only last a couple of seconds some times more.  Kind of like the car is in neutral when running.  I already replaced the timing belt, and fuel filter.  Not sure what can be wrong with it.

What engine?

Sounds getting scanned for faults codes is the next step.

As you are in Panama, is it automatic transmission?

Brake light switch, get it scanned with some diagnostic software.

+1 for the brake light switch. I had the same issue.

I believe that when the brake is depressed it closes the throttle.

Guys I have just had the same issue with my VRS. What was the outcome and what is the fix? Bought a fuel filter today to try that.
