Fabia owns a R32 you say? oO

Featured Replies

Not only diesels make black smoke. I went to an rr day at AMD and a lad with a tuned Mazda 3mps had it on the rollers. Smoked more than almost all of the Fabias and made 290 odd bhp

Pulling away in second gear may result in your clutch being left behind. Just a kind warning.

and my 3000rpm launch control is designed for 1st gear and using 2nd with it just makes the car bog down and die....  Might be a way to get the launch control limit higher to allow a 2nd gear pull away.

:D

In the Arosa video when the commentator says "its difficult to believe its a diesel".. :D :D

The MASSIVE clouds of smoke make it hard to mistake it for a petrol..

Rapid though!!

Im sure its more down to the fact diesels were historically slow. Not the fact he cant belive its a diesel, hard to belive a diesel can perform so well.

Seen a mk4 R32 run a 16 quarter mile at GTI on the weekend. Only thing going for them is they look and sound nice! Dreadfully slow!

Was also disappointed by a mk2 Octy VRS that was in high 16s.

A few years ago I took my R32 to Shakespear raceway, and my mate in his mk5 Golf 2.0 TDI dsg(180bhp superchips).

I have to honestly say that it was really really hard to launch the car on that day.

normally the best method is to dial up around 5000rpm, and litterally side step the clutch, and the car just rockets off the line and you grab 2nd gear as pretty much soon as u can.

At shakespear the car just grips but doesn't spin the wheels (I guess it's because of the extra grippy surface + glue they use??).  All I got at 5000 and 6000rpm launches was clutch slip...

Tried 3500 and it just sorta bogs.  No real way of utilising the 4wd.

Having said that I constantly spanked my mate in his 180bhp dsg 2.0tdi golf.

But all said and done,  the R32 can really only do about 14seconds quarter mile,  it's deffo not a 'fast' car, specially not compared to the latest 2.0L TFSI engine'd Golf R and the likes...

And I'd agree with some of the other comments above,   lots of current owners just drive about posing and not really driving the car,  other than revving the cars like chavs...   I guess it's cause they are so cheap to buy now.......

These were my times a few years ago at GTI international,

0-60 5.69,  and 14.2 1/4 mile,   so it's sorta semi respectable for a heavy 11year old hatch!

Anyways,   this is a skoda forum,  and big up to darkside,  I watched that car this weekend, and it just flew!!!!     Looks and sounds bloody rediculous though :x

Nice pull and no smoke to boot :).

The R32 is a truly dreadful car, the only people who like them are poseurs who can't drive properly.

My god what planet are you on!.. The R32 is an amazing car! A proper spacious solid 4wd FAST special car and the best sounding v6 you will hear!

I had a 06 mk5 golf r32 dsg...

I've had to downgrade because I've just bought a house, absolutely everything is better on the VW!

I certainly will be buying another r32 in the future for definite

And I don't know why people compare a tuned turbo engine to a NA engine.. It's ridiculous... Also just to add that Darside developments fab has nitrous oxide.

Add a hgp setup, rotrex or supercharger to an r32 and you will instantly be 400/500bhp+

I would guess that r32 isn't stock anyways

R32's are lovely. Hold their value. And the sound is amazing. Albeit no supercar but it does all you need

Give me the note of an r32 everyday over a tractor engine

If its the same one that was running allday sunday,it was turbo'd and sounded incredible. . .

Alot of people were complained of not being able to get grip down on the strip compaired to santa pod,the aerosa and fabia were both running massive wide drag slicks with hardly any pressure in them which obviously helped them get some traction.

The grip on normal road tyres is non exsistant on this strip :(

The other month I had to feather 1st - 3rd before I got full grip, having the car snatch on you at 70mph as it get grips sure wakes you up lol.
